May the Source Be With You! How to Set Up and Use a Linux Git Server

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Git is a really useful tool (with benefits including change tracking, well-organized collaboration, and automatic backups), but maybe you're nervous about hosting your code using a commercial source code management service. Come see how easy it is to set up a private Git server (fewer steps than you might think)!  Having even one character out of place in the code of a script, query, or program can cause it to not run, so little changes can be really important, but having to create and name a backup, and then copy it to a server every time you make a change can become a burden! Do you have information in your code that shouldn't be shared outside of your organization? The major commercial source code management services all have a free private repository option, but if your code is hosted somewhere else (offsite, and ultimately outside of your control), so there's a certain peace of mind that comes from having your own, local, private Git server, and setting one up is actually very easy--come find out how!
